How can I trust Shakepay?

At Shakepay, we make the security of your account, personal information, and money a top priority. For more detailed informations, don't hesitate to check out our Security page.

Digital Currencies

The vast majority of digital currencies are held offline on air-gapped, cold storage wallets. A small amount is kept in hot wallets to serve the liquidity needed for everyday transactions.

Personal Information

While we must store some of your profile information, like your name and date of birth, we take this responsibility very seriously.

All personal data is transmitted through SSL-encrypted tunnels to our servers and then stored with AES-256 encryption in our database. This means if our databases were to be breached, all profile information collected would be gibberish and completely unreadable.

Privacy Laws

We are compliant with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act  (“PIPEDA”, S.C. 2000, c. 5) and Quebec’s An Act Respecting the Protection Of Personal Information in the Private Sector (R.S.Q. c. P-39.1).

Regulated

Shakepay is registered as a money service business (MSB) with FINTRAC, and a restricted dealer with the AMF and the securities regulatory authorities in all Canadian provinces and territories.

  • FINTRAC license: #M17065696

  • Revenu Québec license: #904007
